Network Related Issues.
By Matt Berry | October 5, 2007
We are currently resolving the issues related to downtime today. We will update this post very shortly with the cause of this.
Edit- As of 11:40Am services are being restored. We have found the issue is one of our servers was the target of a DDOS attack, this may have caused slowness with other segments of our network. We are working on resolving this with our providers.
Edit- As of 12:45pm Ans04 was the target of this attack. We are working to resolve this issue now. This server will be back online very shortly.
Edit- As of 3:44pm ANS04 Outage. There is currently a large Distributed Denial of Service attack aimed at ANS04. For the time being, we’ve needed to place a null route on the main IP of that machine in order to ensure stability to the rest of our network. Our IP Engineering department is monitoring this attack, and as soon as an alternative solution can be found, we will lift the null route.
Edit: 12:01 AM CST :: As of this time, we’ve opened a ticket with one of our upstream providers in order to lift the null route on ans04. We’ll monitor the amount of inbound traffic and update this ticket appropriately.
Edit: 1:47 AM CST :: We have lifted the nullroute on one of our upstream providers and are currently monitoring the traffic to see if the attack has subsided.
edit 10:54 AM CST :: We are attempting to lift this null route again. We will let you know what we find.
